About Department

The Department of Economics launched its journey in 1972 as an honours subject. With the passage of time and matching to the updating patterns of UGC syllabus, the Department has commenced its journey with the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme under National Education Policy from 2022 onwards.

Besides teaching, the Department organizes seminars, debates and prepares students for Quiz competition and Group discussion, so that they can keep pace with the time. The teachers guide and encourage the students to express their views independently through their writings on the wall Magazine. Above all, the faculty members are always ready to render all possible assistance and guidance to students within and outside the campus as and when required. Consequently, students get through the final examination with flying colours every year and go for further higher studies.

Courses Offered

The Department of Economics offers programs designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Since 2022, the department has introduced the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in Economics.
