About Department
The Department of Geography in our college was established in 1972 and offered courses in Under Graduate level. The department has two permanent
Assistant Professor with specialization in Physical Geography and Human Geography. Department has well equipped workshop Lab with all the survey
instrument, Cartographic equipment, Maps, Toposheets, etc..
We promote student-centric learning with field experiences outside the classroom as well. The Department of Geography is also ICT enabled. The department
organizes Geographical Excursions, Site visits, Instrumental Surveys, Field surveys on Socio-economics and Environmental issue as part of curriculum.
Courses Offered
The department offered both Honours in Geography and General Program under the CBCS-2017 and LOCF-2020. Currently, with the implementation of NEP-2020,
Four Year Under Graduate Program is offered in Geography starting from the session 2022-2026, as Major, Minor and Multi-Disciplinary course in the new curriculum.
VISION
The department of Geography caters to a good number of interested students and there is high demand for the subject. In this contest, our department aims at
imparting specialized skills in cartography, surveying, planning and field works to face the job-oriented environment. The main goal is to inculcate a revived
interest among the students about their niche as the subject enquires on the understanding of man-nature relationship. Our students are encouraged to visualize
the problems and look for prospect for Geography.
The vision of the department lies along the parallels of recent trends and developments in Geography globally, addressing important issues alike climate change.
Organization of academic lectures, invited guest lectures, workshops seminar presentations are part of the teaching.
MISSION
In accordance with the Mission of the college, the department of Geography strives for the empowerment of Girl students from all the strata of society through
education and related exposures for their holistic development. To equip the students with a skill set of fulfil the demands in the consent academic and job
arena. Establishment of a GIS Lab and remote sensing data analysis, so that to introduce the under graduate students to these technologies and its usefulness
in Geography to proceed for higher education. Under the FYUGP of NEP-2020 we strive to inculcate research fervor among the students.
