About Department

The Department of Sanskrit, The Graduate School College for Women, Sakchi, Jamshedpur, was established in 1972. It aims to preserve and promote India’s rich cultural and intellectual heritage through the study of the Sanskrit language and literature. Since its establishment, the department has focused on providing quality education to the students and encouraging research in ancient texts, philosophy, and traditions.

The NEP curriculum followed by the department helps students build a strong base in the Sanskrit language and introduces them to its wide literary and philosophical heritage. The department also shows how Sanskrit remains relevant today, especially in understanding Indian culture, values, and modern interdisciplinary studies.

The dedicated and well qualified faculty members guide students in their learning and encourage critical thinking for better understanding of the subject.
